Lake Keowee (South Cove Park Area)
Lake Keowee is known for its clear, deep water and abundance of spotted and largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. South Cove Park offers excellent shore fishing, piers, and boat access near submerged brush and rock piles. Anglers often use finesse rigs, swimbaits, and live shad, especially in the early morning or just before dusk. It’s also one of the cleanest lakes in the state, with stunning views that make every cast worthwhile.
Lake Hartwell (High Falls Park Area)
Located just west of Seneca, Lake Hartwell is a sprawling reservoir that offers outstanding striped bass, hybrid bass, crappie, and catfish fishing. The High Falls area gives anglers access to creek mouths and submerged channels where game fish ambush bait. Use downlines with live herring for stripers or target brush piles for slab crappie. It’s a tournament hotspot for good reason, big fish and big variety.

Little River (above Lake Keowee)
A beautiful tributary flowing into Lake Keowee, the Little River is excellent for smallmouth bass, sunfish, and seasonal trout in its cooler upper stretches. Wading and kayaking anglers enjoy the boulder-strewn runs and quiet eddies under thick forest canopy. Small crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics work well in deeper pools. It’s the perfect mix of serenity and surprise bites.
Cane Creek Reservoir (Smaller City-Owned Lake)
This small but productive reservoir near Seneca is stocked with bass, bluegill, and catfish, making it a solid choice for beginner and family outings. The calm waters and simple layout make it ideal for shore fishing or small boats. Try worms or soft plastics along the edges and around submerged logs. It’s rarely crowded and just right for a relaxed afternoon.
