Rock Springs, WY
Flaming Gorge Reservoir (Buckboard Marina Area)
This enormous reservoir stretches into Utah and is home to lake trout (mackinaw), kokanee salmon, rainbow trout, and burbot. Near Buckboard Marina, anglers can launch boats or fish from shore near rocky drop-offs and submerged structure. Known for deep, cold water and trophy fish.
Green River (Below Fontenelle Dam)
Just north of Rock Springs, this tailwater stretch offers excellent fly and spin fishing for brown and rainbow trout. The river runs clear and cold with deep bends and riffles ideal for drift fishing or wading. Best fished in spring and fall when flows are stable and trout are active.

Sweetwater County Picnic Grounds Pond (Rock Springs City Park)
This small pond in town is stocked seasonally with catchable rainbow trout and is ideal for kids, beginners, or a relaxed afternoon. Easy access, picnic tables, and minimal gear required. Try PowerBait, worms, or small spinners.
Killpecker Sand Dunes Ponds (North of Town)
A series of small ponds near the Killpecker Dunes area offer quiet, remote fishing for bass, panfish, and stocked trout. Windswept and wild, these ponds vary with season and water level but can be surprisingly productive in spring. Great for solitude and light-tackle exploration.
