Sheridan, WY
Tongue River (Below Kendrick Dam)
This classic Western river flows cold and clear through Sheridan, offering excellent trout fishing just minutes from downtown. Brown and rainbow trout hold in riffles, undercut banks, and deep runs. Great for fly or spin anglers alike, with plenty of public access and mountain views.
Lake DeSmet
Located just north of town, this large prairie lake is known for its rainbow trout, walleye, and perch. Shore and boat access are easy, with excellent fishing near points, rocky drop-offs, and the dam. Expect wide skies, wind, and a chance at both numbers and size.

Little Goose Creek (South Park Area)
Running right through town, this small creek offers a peaceful setting and surprising action for stocked trout and wild browns. Great for kids, ultralight gear, or a quick after-work outing. Look for feeding fish near bends, undercuts, and shaded banks.
Sibley Lake (Bighorn Mountains)
Up in the Bighorns about 45 minutes west, this high-elevation lake offers scenic fishing for brook, rainbow, and grayling. Clear, cold, and quiet, it’s best fished from a canoe or the shady shoreline. Bring a fly rod or small spinners and soak up the alpine air.
