North Platte River (Douglas Riverside Park)
This broad, accessible stretch near downtown Douglas offers deep runs and gravel bars that hold browns and rainbows year-round. Shoreline access is excellent, and it’s a favorite for locals casting spinners, flies, or bait. Morning and dusk see the most surface activity.
LaPrele Reservoir
About 15 miles west of Douglas, LaPrele offers good fishing for rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, and tiger trout in a high-desert setting. Fish from shore near the dam or drop a kayak into calmer coves. The water is deep and clear—great for trolling or vertical jigging.

Douglas Community Fishing Pond
A small, stocked pond perfect for young anglers or beginners. Rainbow trout and catfish are the main targets, especially in spring and fall. Easy parking and bank access make this an approachable, family-friendly option.
