Salt Lake City, UT
Jordan River (Murray to South Salt Lake Stretch)
Flowing right through the city, the Jordan River supports catfish, carp, and the occasional largemouth bass. Urban but surprisingly productive, this stretch is best for bait and light tackle anglers. Cast near slow-moving bends, under bridges, and near vegetation.
Big Cottonwood Creek (Near Silver Lake Trailhead)
Just 30 minutes up Big Cottonwood Canyon, this mountain stream holds brook, brown, and rainbow trout in its cold, clear pools and riffles. Fly anglers favor this stretch with small dries and nymphs, especially in summer and fall. It’s a peaceful, shaded setting with elk tracks often outnumbering boot prints.

Liberty Park Pond
Located in the heart of downtown, this small pond is stocked with rainbow trout and bluegill, making it a quick and easy option for families or urban anglers. Try spinners, worms, or PowerBait near the dock and aerators. Best in spring and fall after stocking events.
Little Dell Reservoir
A scenic no-bait, artificial-lures-only lake in Parleys Canyon, Little Dell is known for its large, elusive Bonneville cutthroat trout and healthy population of brook trout. Great for kayak or belly boat fishing, especially during low-wind mornings. Quiet, well-managed, and surrounded by pine-clad hills.
