Hurricane Reservoir (Meeks Mountain Trails Area)
Tucked within Hurricane City Park, this small but well-maintained reservoir is stocked with trout in season and supports bass and bluegill year-round. It’s an ideal spot for beginners and families with a paved trail, benches, and open casting space. Use spinners, worms, or PowerBait near the bank.
Kanawha River (Winfield Locks and Dam Access)
Just east of Hurricane, this section of the Kanawha is known for hybrid striped bass, catfish, sauger, and freshwater drum. The tailwater area below the locks is a hotspot, especially during spring and fall runs. Fish with jigs, live bait, or crankbaits near current breaks.

Valley Park Pond (Teays Valley)
This small community pond is ideal for a quick cast or teaching kids the basics. It’s stocked with catfish and trout seasonally and has easy shore access. Try simple bait rigs near the bank or small lures for panfish.
Beech Fork Lake (East Access Point)
Roughly 20–30 minutes southwest of Hurricane, Beech Fork Lake is a major fishing destination known for largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish. The eastern end near Lavalette offers quiet coves and productive shoreline structure. Perfect for kayakers or small-boat anglers.
