Stonewall Jackson Lake
A short drive south, this sprawling reservoir is one of the area’s best-known fisheries, offering largemouth bass, crappie, muskellunge, catfish, and bluegill. Fish around timber, weedlines, and drop-offs by boat or from the shore. Spring and early fall are prime times for bass and muskie action.
West Fork River (Clarksburg City Access)
Flowing through town, the West Fork River offers easy bank fishing and solid catches of smallmouth bass, rock bass, catfish, and seasonal trout. Try fishing near bridge pilings and bends using worms, jigs, or soft plastics. It’s a reliable spot for casual outings and quick hits.

Maple Lake (Bridgeport Area)
This small private lake offers public access for a fee and is known for largemouth bass, bluegill, and catfish. Quiet and scenic, it’s ideal for beginner and intermediate anglers. Cast near docks and submerged cover for your best shot at bass.
Tygart Lake (Near Grafton)
Roughly 30 minutes east, Tygart Lake is a clear, deep reservoir popular for smallmouth bass, walleye, trout (below the dam), and catfish. Fish the rocky shorelines, submerged ledges, and tailwaters in spring and summer. Boat and bank access are both excellent.
