Crozet, VA
Mint Springs Lake (Mint Springs Valley Park)
This spring-fed lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout, especially in cooler months, and also supports largemouth bass and bluegill. Clear, cold water and mountain views make it a tranquil setting for both fly and spinning gear. Shore access is excellent and kayaks are allowed.
Beaver Creek Reservoir
Just northwest of town, this 100+ acre reservoir offers good fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, and chain pickerel. Electric motors only, it’s ideal for kayaks or jon boats, and the coves are full of structure. Cast near submerged timber or along the dam face for best results.

Lickinghole Creek and Basin
A hidden gem on the outskirts of Crozet, this quiet creek-fed basin flows through wooded corridors and offers light angling for bream, small bass, and carp. The water is stained and shallow but holds fish near overhangs and fallen limbs. Perfect for ultralight or fly tackle and a slow-paced walk.
Moormans River (Sugar Hollow Reservoir Downstream)
A cold, mountain-fed river that flows from Shenandoah National Park, the Moormans offers excellent seasonal trout fishing and smallmouth further downstream. Wading and casting through pools and riffles beneath rhododendron and mountain laurel is a true Virginia experience. Wild and scenic, it’s best for experienced anglers.
