Blairsville, Georgia
Lake Nottely (Deavertown Area)
This 4,000-acre reservoir is the centerpiece of Blairsville’s fishing scene, offering superb action for spotted and largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. The Deavertown arm provides easy access and productive coves full of submerged timber and rocky points. Nottely River (Above the Lake)
Flowing clear and cool into Lake Nottely, this stretch of the river is ideal for smallmouth bass and seasonal trout. Wade anglers can find productive riffles and pools using light spinning tackle or fly rods. Small crankbaits and soft plastics are effective near submerged rocks and current seams. It’s a peaceful, woodsy stretch perfect for slow mornings or post-rain exploration.

Helton Creek
A high-elevation mountain stream, Helton Creek offers scenic trout fishing amid rhododendron thickets and cascading waterfalls. The water is cold and swift, with pockets that hold wild and stocked rainbows. It’s best fished with spinners or dry flies, especially in spring and early summer. Access is available via Helton Creek Road, but be prepared for tight trails and rustic conditions.
Meeks Park Pond
Located within one of Blairsville’s most popular parks, this family-friendly pond is regularly stocked with catfish and trout. Perfect for beginners or quick trips, it offers accessible shoreline and piers for easy casting. Worms, PowerBait, and small spinners are effective near the bank. While it’s not a trophy destination, it’s a relaxing place to spend an hour or two.
