This stretch of the Ohio River provides excellent fishing for big blue and flathead catfish, hybrid striped bass, and largemouth bass. Shoreline fishing is convenient from the park, especially near current seams, wing dams, and bridge pilings. Use heavy tackle and cut bait for the best results.
Beech Fork Lake
Just south of town, Beech Fork Lake is popular for largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, and sunfish. The lake offers boat ramps, piers, and ample shoreline access. Cast near fallen timber, submerged structures, and creek channels for consistent action.

Barboursville Lake
This small, scenic lake east of Huntington is stocked with trout seasonally and supports healthy populations of bass and bluegill year-round. It’s perfect for kayak anglers, shore casters, or families. Fish early or late in the day around docks, points, and brush piles.
East Lynn Lake
About 30 minutes southeast, East Lynn Lake is known for trophy-sized muskellunge, largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. The lake’s wooded shoreline and numerous coves offer quiet fishing opportunities by boat or from shore. Muskie anglers should focus on deeper structures with large crankbaits or bucktails.
