Craighead Forest Lake
Right on the southern edge of town, this scenic, 60-acre lake is stocked with channel catfish and trout seasonally, and supports healthy populations of bass, bluegill, and crappie. Multiple fishing piers, bank access, and a boat ramp make it an all-skill-level spot.
Joe Mack Campbell Park Ponds
These well-maintained city ponds are frequently stocked with catfish and offer easy access and paved walking trails. Perfect for beginners, kids, or a lunchtime cast. PowerBait and worms work well near the banks or under bobbers.

Lake Frierson State Park
Located about 15 minutes north on Crowley’s Ridge, this small, shaded reservoir is home to largemouth bass, redear sunfish, crappie, and channel catfish. Cast around timbered shorelines and weed edges, especially in spring and fall. Kayaks and small boats thrive here.
St. Francis River (Lake City Access – East of Jonesboro)
A winding, slow-moving river with access to oxbow lakes and backwater sloughs, the St. Francis is great for catfish, bowfin, and crappie. Fish near submerged logs, outside bends, and river junctions with cut bait or jigs. Remote-feeling and classic Delta angling.
