The mighty Arkansas River offers big catfish, white bass, drum, and the occasional hybrid striper. Cast heavy rigs with cut bait or jigs near wing dams, current seams, and deeper eddies. Access is easy from Riverfront Park and nearby boat ramps.
Carol Ann Cross Park Lake
A well-kept city pond great for beginners, kids, or a relaxed day. Stocked with catfish and trout seasonally, and home to bluegill and small bass year-round. Fish from the dock or shady banks with worms, dough bait, or small spinners.

Lee Creek Reservoir (Lake Fort Smith State Park Area)
A short drive north, this lake offers clear, deep water with good populations of largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. Fish the coves and timbered arms by kayak or small boat, or hike down to bank access points for quiet shoreline fishing.
Wells Lake (Wells Lake Park)
Near the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center, Wells Lake is regularly stocked with catfish and trout and also holds sunfish and bass. Perfect for families and beginners with a large fishing pier and well-maintained trails.
