Charlotte, NC
Lake Norman (Blythe Landing)
North Carolina’s largest man-made lake, Lake Norman offers top-tier bass fishing, along with catfish, crappie, and striped bass. Fish points, submerged brush, and docks for consistent action. The water is clear, deep, and best approached by boat.
Mountain Island Lake (Latta Nature Preserve)
Smaller and quieter than Norman, Mountain Island is a local favorite for bass, panfish, and catfish. Access is easy from the preserve, and the views of forest and shoreline make it feel remote. Try soft plastics near cover for largemouths.

McAlpine Creek Park Lake
A small pond in east Charlotte perfect for kids or beginners, stocked with bream and catfish. Cast from shore or the small pier—bite rates are good, especially after rain. It’s urban fishing in its simplest, most relaxing form.
Catawba River (Below Lake Wylie Dam)
Below the dam, the Catawba churns with energy and fish—striped bass, catfish, and big bluegill love the oxygen-rich water. Use live bait or heavy jigs in the current seams. Best approached by boat, but there are productive bank spots as well.
