Casper, WY
North Platte River (Miracle Mile Section)
Arguably the most famous trout water in Wyoming, the Miracle Mile west of Casper produces big browns and rainbows year-round. The river runs clear and cold from Kortes Dam, with deep pools, gravel bars, and perfect nymph water. Wading and drift boat access both available expect wind, wild fish, and wide skies.
North Platte River (Downtown Casper Area)
Running right through town, this section of the North Platte still produces quality trout, especially near structure and cooler months. Public access is excellent, with paved trails and parks lining the banks. Fish streamers, nymphs, or jigs—this is urban angling at its best.

Alcova Reservoir
About 30 miles southwest, this deep and scenic lake holds walleye, rainbow trout, brown trout, and perch. Fish near rocky points, the dam, and submerged trees for best results. The wind can be a challenge, but the potential for a mixed-species haul is high.
Pathfinder Reservoir
Larger and more remote than Alcova, Pathfinder offers solitude and excellent fishing for trout and walleye. Try trolling crankbaits or jigging around submerged islands and drop-offs. It’s best accessed by boat, though hardy bank anglers do well too—especially in early spring and late fall.
